Howdy folks!
It's been a bunch of days since the last post, so I figured I'd do a run down of what we did!
In English/Language Arts we focused of noting details in order to have a deeper understanding of characters from a story. With these details, we could make inferences as well as analyze the character we were noting details about. We also monitored our reading, going back and rereading, as well as using context clues to clarifying any misunderstanding we had about the story. On top of that, we concentrated on synonyms and when to use a more evocative synonym in place of a "regular" word in our writing.
In math, we moved to multiplying two- and three-digit numbers with a two-digit number. We've been working on this concept steadily as the process is lengthy and requires time and focus to truly understand how to multiply something such as 327 X 46.
In science, we been talking about living and non-living things in an ecosystem, and how they interact with each other. We also looked at specific kinds of ecosystems such as a tundras, coral reefs, and tropical rain forests.
For this upcoming week, we're going to take a look a the genre known only as tall-tales, and compare characters like Pecos Bill and Paul Bunyan to characters from stories we have read these past few weeks. We'll also be continuing working on multiplication, and in science, we're going to be wrapping up this chapter on ecosystems with a project detailing a main idea about ecosystems.
And hey, conferences are this week as well, FYI. It's going to a fun time y'all!
