Thin Crust or Thick Crust

Happy Monday folks!

We started out with a free-write, which was "what you did over the weekend." Here's what some folks wrote about:

We then discussed editing/proof reading one's work before turning it in; this discussion led to the California State Writing Assessment that's going to be happening tomorrow, and how to prepare for it.

We then went over how to summarize a text, as well discuss this week's vocabulary. We then began to read Salmon Summer, a non-fiction piece about a boy who goes fishing over the summer. We also wrote a summary for the first half of the story:

For math, we reviewed line plots, surveys, bar graphs, mean, median, mode, and range in preparation of our math topic test tomorrow. Here are some links for mean, median, mode, and range.

We also took our spelling pre-test today; this week's spelling list contains three-syllable words.

After lunch, and R.T.S., we started our new chapter in Social Studies, which is about the missions of California. We read part of the first lesson in this chapter, and learned why and the Spaniards decided to build their missions and how they got to California to do so.

The remainder of the day was spent working on our Native American research project. That's all folks! Cheers!
