Had a game of ultimate frisbee during P.E. and then heading back to class we had a demo on making paper airplanes.

After recess, we went over the Classroom Activity from the Smarter Balanced pilot test:
We read and reread an excerpt on hummingbirds, got together in collaborative groups to go over questions, and then as a whole class we shared our ideas. Tomorrow we will take our ideas and use them in our Smarter Balanced writing assessment.
We also had additional freewrite readouts:
After lunch, we had R.T.S, and then wrapped up our Social Studies unit by discussing new people and places in California, as well as discuss the changing California landscape. We will soon be learning about California as a growing state, early modes of transportation, railroads, immigrants in CA, and the fight against discrimination.
At the end of the day we read another chapter of Trumpet of the Swans:
