Salmon Steaks!

Hi there folks!

We FINISHED our 1st trimester benchmarks today! Yay!!!!!! Don't have to deal with that for awhile! Whew!
"Mr Nguyen, I'm sad because my brain is fried from all of this
test taking. I'm glad it's Friday tomorrow though,
and then it's a long weekend! Whoo hoo!"

Students had another round of P.E today with Mr.Wood, and when we came back from recess, we got down with some math. We focused more on rounding today; I reminded the students that they needed to underline the digit that they were going to round, and circle the digit next to the underlined digit. When doing this, I feel it helps the students focus on the correct digits, as well as ease the processing of rounding numbers. Oh, and here's a little adage to help students with their rounding:

Find your place
Look next door
Five or more, let it soar
four or less, let it rest
All digits in front, stay the same
All digits behind, zero's your name

After lunch, students got a chance to get scientific with Mrs. Daly! We talked much about the scientific method on our first Science Lab, and then students got a chance to utilize their understanding of the scientific method in the form of a lab!

When we got back from afternoon recess, we got a chance to read a bit more of Finding the Titanic and fill out some more of our brace map.

There was a lot modeling being done for this brace map, but I am confident that the students will be able to do it independently tomorrow!

Oh, and here are a few of those awesome vocabulary stories that the students wrote for homework:

Throughout the day,  students worked on their Compund Sentence mini-poster when they had a free moment:

Well, that's Thursday for ya! Tomorrow's Friday and what a glorious Friday it'll be! Until then ladies and gents! Cheers!
