We started out the morning with a freewrite:

Joelle:
After the freewrite, we learned how to note important details about a character from a story. Tomorrow we're going to be noting details on our own after reading the story The Stranger written by Chris Van Allsburg.
Afterwards, we discussed compound words and did a spelling pre-test which are on compound words.
When we came back from recess, we discovered patterns used to multiply multiples of 10, 100, and 1,000.
Once our math block was done, we talked and discussed what bullying is, and moments when a someone has seen bullying. This discussion was in preparation for A Project Cornerstone seminar that will be coming up. Afterwards we reviewed synonyms and replacing "regular" words with more descriptive synonyms.
We had a bit o' time so we read out a few more freewrites!

After coming back from lunch, we did some Read to Self, and then we had a Red Ribbon Assembly! Mr. Moore, a fourth degree karate black belt, helped the students decide on and make healthy, smart choices! We came back from afternoon recees, and created a circle map to hone in smart healthy choices that we could make:
Tomorrow, we're going to use this circle map to write and elaborate more on healthy, smart choices!
Finally, we had some time at the end of the day to read another snippet of The Witches, and read a few more freewrites!
