Today we got down with a lot of good stuff! We did a freewrite first thing in the morning:
Lauren:
Seth:
Izzy V.:
After the freewrite, we filled out a tree map containing this week's vocabulary words:
We discussed this week's reading skill of categorizing and classifying while reading A Very Important Day, a story about people who gain citizenship to the United States.
After recess, we did some math, focusing on figuring expressions that contain parentheses.

After lunch we did some Read-To-Self, and then we started our writing assessment. The prompt was "Why Do You Like Halloween?" And if we didn't celebrate Halloween, we wrote on a different topic. Here were the steps that we took to get to our final draft:
Brainstorm
Outline
Rough Draft
Final Draft
Many of us are still on our rough drafts, and a few of us have managed to start on our final drafts! Whoot!
Near the end of the day, we read a little o' bit of Road Dahl's The Witches. The Grand High Witch wants to get rrrrrid of all the children in "Inkland!"
And that's Monday for you! Cheers!
