We started the day out with a quick free write: Write about the time where you were expecting something but totally got something else. Explain and elaborate.
Here's what a couple of students wrote:
After that, we got back onto the inference train; I explained using an inverse flow chart to write down clues and experiences to make an inference:
During highly-structured practice, we worked on an inverse flow chart dealing with Tanya's Reunion. Students will fill finish the chart independently tomorrow:
We then also read a part of our read aloud story The Witches and did many think-pair-shares with our peers to make inferences about characters and situations in the story.
After recess, we had math; during math, we revisited rounding and estimating numbers, but this time, using this concept to multiply.
After lunch, we did a little read to self, and then started another lesson in our science unit of ecosystems. Today, we looked at different types of decomposers, and how decay affects and ecosystem. Here is another video dealing with decomposers and scavengers:
Speaking of decomposers, we got a new class pet! Say hello to Leif!
Leif will hopefully be getting some more friends in his terrarium in the near horizon! At the end of the day, we had music with Ms. Ramona for the first time this year, and it was an awesome first time indeed! Next time there will be a recording for all to hear!
That's Tuesday in nutshell for you! Cheers!
