New Post for the New Year!

Howdy-do folks!

I hope everyone had a fun and relaxing holiday break! I know I did! I spent a lot of this break watching movies! I saw a bunch of movies over the break, one which was The Hobbit!

These guys mean business.
I thought it was going to be just one movie, and was quite shocked and surprised when it came to an end, and I was left with a cliffhanger! Arrrrgh! Ah well, I guess I'll have to wait a few months for the next part of this epic saga!

Oh, by the way, I'd just like to say thank you for the wonderful gifts that you folks showered upon me right before the break! I really do appreciate it! And the graphic novels were awesome! You ladies and gents know the way to my heart!

I also scored some other awfully neat presents this holiday season:

You're probably thinking: "What, Mr. Nguyen?! A vacuum?! Borrrring!"
Let me tell you that this Dyson vacuum here is the king of vacuums! It's like vacuuming with a magic wand! All the dirt just disappears!

"A french press and a grinder for coffee?! Gross! Give me a Barbie for a present instead!" Coffee, is coffee, and it keeps me alert and active for all of those teaching moments in class! And now it's easier for me to make! Yay!!

I got Men in Black I and Men in Black II as well! They're funny Sci-fi movies based on an "old" comic book! Gotta love it!

And here's the best gift of all:

I got all teary-eyed when I opened this one up! If you didn't know, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was the hit cartoon when I was growing up, and when I got this, I felt nostalgic and like a kid again! Ahh, the good old days!

Enough with the showing off already! Let's get to this week! Here's the tentative getdown of what's going to happen for the next four days! In English/Language Arts we're going to be working on predicting outcomes using supporting details from the text. It's basically making an inference using clues from the story that we're reading (something we've been working on). In writing, we're going to do expository and write about some resolutions we can make for the new year. We're going to focus on explaining our resolutions that relates to self, home, and school. In math, we're going to deal with adding and subtracting fractions that might or might not have common denominators. And we're going to head back to good ol' Social Studies and discuss the different land regions of California! It's going to be a fun and exciting week! Count on it!

Cheers!
