An awesome Thursday it was! We started the day out with this freewrite: What are your three favorite places in California? Write a bit about those three places and make sure you give details and elaborate.
Anyways, we spent time afterwards reading the freewrites out loud; those who volunteered got to verbally showcase their writing to their peers. I didn't think to record these freewrites until the last few students read their writing pieces:
After the freewrite, we burned some calories during P.E. and then headed straight to recess! When we came back from recess we rotated for math and learned how to use arrays to multiply!
| "It's the Study Jams coming at you with a lesson on multiplication! Get down with it!" |
After math, we filled out our assignment notebooks, and went over California symbols and using research tools effectively. Afterwards, we listened to the story Boy: Tales of Childhood and were completely enthralled by the antics and adventures of Roald Dahl when he was a little boy!
After lunch, we Read To Self, and then did some English/Language Arts! We read Finding Her Way and then we generated questions and noted important details in our reading notebook. Afterwards, we participated in a Social Studies game that helped us review for the test tomorrow!
Well, that's about it folks! No wait! There's more! Here's the audio version of By the Shores of Silver Lake again:
And here's a P.R.I.D.E poster created by none other than our very own Sydney Dunne!
Be sure to check out this poster when you head into the cafeteria! Until then ladies and gents, stay awesome!
