Monday Funday!

Howdy Folks! We got some good stuff going on today! We started the day out with some a good 'ol spelling pre-test! Afterwards we read a "story before the story," and got to know a bit about Tomás Rivera!

Afterwards we created a tree map that included vocabulary words related to the story; we independently looked up these words in the textbook glossary, and then illustrated our understanding of the vocab word in the form of an picture or a sentence. We then shared our examples with a partner.

When we came back from recess, we learned about special division rules that helped us figure out division problems dealing with 1 and 0.

After math, we filled out our assignment notebooks, and then we worked on our California Symbols poster as well as our Science mini poster:

After lunch, we continued our California research project; this time we labeled important geographic locations of California:

After we came back from afternoon recess, we got into lesson 2 of our ecosytem unit:

Here are some videos that explain more about food chains (click on the pictures):

"Beep! Click Me! Food Chains! Beep!"

"Click on this here image for a demonstration!"
And throughout the day, we got to share our freewrites, which I forgot to mention we did first thing in the morning before spelling:
